Things To Do in the Texas Hill Country

Wimberley is blessed with a location on the banks of Cypress Creek and the Blanco River surrounded by the Texas Hill Country. As a result, there are great outdoor activities nearby.

Shopping
Wimberley is full of unique shops that offer traditional and not-so-traditional art and wares. Although the primary shopping areas are clustered around the "Square" and "Olde Towne Plaza", there are also shops sprinkled throughout other areas. The first Saturday of each month, March through December, Market Days draws visitors from around the state.

Theatre
Many rural towns had outdoor movie theatres years ago. Wimberley still has one. The Corral Theatre features first run movies every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from Memorial Day through Labor Day. You can even bring your own chair. Call 847-2513 for shows and times. If your taste runs to live theatre, try the EmilyAnn Theatre, The Rep Theatre, or the Wimberley Players for year round theatrical events.

Site-Seeing
For those who just like to walk and see the sites, Wimberley is full of beautiful views and rich history. A pause at the bridge over Cypress Creek or, for the more vigorous, a walk up the steps to the top of Old Baldy are certainly worth the trip.

Additional Activities
Take a step back in time to an 1880's Pioneer Town at the 7A Ranch Resort with plenty of activities for the whole family! Wimberley also offers many unique art galleries, including Wimberley Glass Works, with entertaining glass blowing demonstrations six days a week. Enjoy an afternoon of golf at the 18-Hole Quicksand at Woodcreek Golf Course or a round of disc golf at Circle R Ranch.  Get your family photographs taken while cutting your own lavender at one of the local lavender fields.  Wimberley is also home to the Wimberley Valley Winery, Wimberley Brewing Company, Middleton Brewing, Duchman Winery, and the Cypress Creek Reserve which is a rum distillery.  Each of these places offers complimentary tastings and tours. Or for the more adventurous, contact Hill Country Excursions or Mike's Luxury Transports to arrange a tour  and activities throughout the beautiful Wimberley Valley.

Lavender Farms
Rough Creek Lavender Fields are located in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country, just 7 miles NW of Wimberley on FM 2325. We invite you to pick your own lavender from 5,000 lavender plants or shop in our on-site store. Herb classes, special events & tour buses are welcome when scheduled. Our online and on-site stores both carry lavender oils, lotions, powders, eye and neck pillows, bath salts, a baby's corner, soaps, and pet products. Call for hours of operation 512-847-2888 or visit our website at www.roughcreeklavender.com

Camping - Swimming - Hiking
The Village of Wimberley offers swimming every day at the historic Blue Hole on Cypress Creek.  Many of the resorts and camps around town have Blanco River access, pools and hiking trails. Cypress Falls Swimming Hole in Woodcreek is a favorite swimming destination for locals and visitors to the Wimberley area.  The Lodge at Cypress Falls offers lodging at a reasonable rate. See Lodging on the menus for contact information. For more information on the Blue Hole Regional Park, contact the City of Wimberley at (512) 847-0025.

For the whole family...
Take a dip in one of our cool, crystal clear rivers or streams at either 7A Ranch on the Blanco, Cypress Falls Swimming Hole or the Blue Hole on Cypress Creek.  Don't forget to cool off with a refreshing Wimberley Shave Ice.
